Rustic Village Homestay 1

This village, that is home to the ancient Warli tribe, is where a rustic way of life has quietly survived amidst the pressures of modernisation. Spend a day here taking in their distinctive art, dance and the joys of rural life, and help the Warlis preserve their traditions.

The Warli community culture is centered around  nature and its elements are often the focal points depicted in their tribal artform of Warli paintings. They greatly respect nature and wildlife for the resources that they provide. Farming is their main way of life and is the primary source of livelihood for the tribe. The harvest is, therefore, a great time of celebration for the Warlis, and finds its expression in the ancient rhythm of the soulful musical instrument and the tribal dance form – the Tarpa, where a circle of men and women dance and sway in unison around the Tarpa player.

Blending interaction with Warli tribesmen, dining in their traditional homes, participating in their daily chores, and sharing stories and aspirations, the rustic Warli tribal journey is perfected when a community Artist shares the most intricate facets and century-old techniques of this tribal artform with you.

I had a wonderful time! This is a wonderful and thoughtful initiative to help the native tribes preserve their culture, provide them with livelihood while maintaining their traditional arts and crafts. The tribal families were so warm and their hospitality is amazing! The food was simple, delicious and served with love. It was fun taking part in the farm activities as well as an eye-opener to the fact that the tribes indeed live a very difficult life. Learning the Warli painting and being involved in the Tarpa dance was enjoyable and taking a dip in the stream was thoroughly refreshing. All in all, it is a heart-warming experience that no one should miss.

A complete cultural immersion into the rustic tribal lives. Glad that I could do my small contribution to make a difference to their lives; the last of the few existing from the Warli community. Felt calm and relaxed. Away from the busy city lives, cool and peaceful place. It was an amazing experience. Also, the homemade food was delicious. A feeling of being one with nature.
